Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Nurse Extern performs duties in an ethical manner, ensuring patient safety, privacy, dignity and confidentiality. The Extern interacts with and pursues professional development with all unit staff, while maintaining appropriate professional image, practicing in a Shared Governance model of nursing practice. - Observe and effectively communicate changes in patient’s condition to the Registered Nurse - Respond appropriately to emergency situations. - Perform procedures, report clinical observations, and assist with activities of daily living. - Practice standard precaution and isolation procedures to maintain a safe and healthy environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
