The AVP, Complex Claims will be managing a team of Claims Professionals handling complex cases including NYLL, Construction Defect, claims involving complex coverage issues and high-exposure litigated general liability claims. Responsibilities Manage a team of Claims Professionals handling complex claims including NYLL, Construction Defect, and high-exposure litigated general liability claims is required. Develop and execute strategies to create and maintain a dynamic and positive work environment and culture that enables staff to develop personally and technically. Ensure team members are engaged in an aggressive and thorough investigation, ability to formulate a roadmap in the defense of catastrophic/ high exposure cases and direct and oversee the external defense team. Drive and develop the technical acumen of the team, which handles a significant number of complex and high severity matters. Ability to synthesize large volumes of information accurately, efficiently, and timely to analyze claim to determine exposure, prepare large loss reports and set appropriate reserves. Collaborate with your colleagues to drive best practices and optimal claims outcomes. Ensure team members are adequately prepared for the mediation and all other negotiations and trials, where necessary. Ensure timely and accurate reserving practices. Review, analyze and approve coverage letter. large loss reports and evaluations on claim files. Close collaboration with underwriting business partners to advise of trends and significant claims activity. Adhere to company procedures and best practice guidelines and prioritize time sensitive issues. Frequent interaction and case presentation to senior level executives Qualifications Proven track record of managing Claims Professionals handling complex claims including NYLL, Construction Defect, and high-exposure litigated general liability claims is required. 8 years experience managing complex claims Being in a Coaction office 3 days a week is REQURIED Prior management experience of a NYLL claims team is REQUIRED Prior experience in handling high exposure large losses preferred Ability to work as a team member, take accountability for work product and decisions Must possess confidence and be a problem solver with an eye towards creative solutions Skillful negotiator Effective communication skills a must with an ability to build relationships with our insureds and brokers and partner with our underwriters Ability to obtain and maintain required adjuster license within 90 days Bachelor’s Degree JD preferred Salary range specific to for this role : $165,000-$195,000 discretionary incentive bonus benefits depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, and qualifications. In addition, employees are eligible for standard benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental and retirement.
