Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance. A Laboratory Technician I is responsible for performing tasks required to meet the expectations of our clients, in addition to efficiently and profitably generating defensible data in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have experience in working under possibly hazardous conditions (e.g. pathogens or chemicals). He/She/They will be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and will be passionate for doing work that makes things move forward As a key member of the Richmond Laboratory team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including: ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Preparation of samples for analysis Preparation of reagents for lab use and/or shipment Sample extractions Determining the volume of samples Cleaning of laboratory glassware Maintaining clean laboratory areas Maintaining organized records of sample preparation and analysis Courier supplies to and/or samples from client sites Overhead projects designed to improve efficiency of, or accuracy of analyses Assisting the Group Leaders and analysts in acquiring and inventorying consumables, chemicals, and parts for instrumentation Dispose of laboratory waste in a safe manner following prescribed procedures Comply with Enthalpy’s Quality Assurance Program and other policies Comply with Enthalpy’s Health and Safety Plan Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director YOUR EXPERTISE & SKILLS To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. High School Diploma or GED. Associate’s degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic/vocational qualifications preferred Some lab experience is preferred but not required as this is an entry level position PREFERRED SKILLS Knowledge of general lab practices and lab safety Able to multi-task and communicate effectively (both oral and written) Able to work independently and make sound decisions Well organized and have an attention to detail The above statements are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this classification.
