The Position:
The Level 1 Helpdesk Technician provides first-line technical support to end users by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving basic hardware, software, and network issues. This role focuses on troubleshooting common IT problems, documenting incidents, and escalating issues when necessary. It is ideal for an entry-level candidate or intern seeking hands-on experience in an IT support environment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for IT support requests via ticketing system, phone, or email
- Troubleshoot basic hardware issues (desktops, laptops, printers, monitors, peripherals)
- Assist users with software issues related to Windows, Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, and common business applications
- Perform password resets and account support in Active Directory and Microsoft 365
- Set up and deploy workstations, laptops, and mobile devices
- Document issues, resolutions, and procedures clearly in the ticketing system
- Escalate unresolved or complex issues to Level 2/3 support as appropriate
- Assist with routine IT tasks such as inventory management, patching, and equipment replacement
- Follow IT policies, security procedures, and best practices
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Basic understanding of Windows operating systems
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to follow instructions and troubleshoot methodically
- Willingness to learn and take direction
- Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor
Preferred Skills (Not Required)
- Basic knowledge of Active Directory
- Familiarity with ticketing systems (e.g., Service Desk, Jira, Freshservice, etc.)
- Understanding of basic networking concepts (IP addresses, Wi-Fi, VPN)
- Enrollment in or completion of IT-related coursework or certifications (CompTIA A , Network , etc.)
Functional Requirements
Routinely able to:
- Manually lift and move product and materials up to 55 lbs. through regular physical exertion, including but not limited to reach forward, reach overhead, lift, carry, crouch and bend.
- Power grip and wrist turn, including the use of hand tools and/or steering for truck.
- Walk, sit or stand for up to 12 hours with intermittent breaks.
- Push / pull 100lbs.
- See, inspect, and evaluate product quality
- Read and understand written work instructions in English
- Work in a non-climate controlled environment, including hot and humid conditions.
