The Recipe for Success: Role Summary

The Senior Director, Retail Real Estate & Construction will lead the strategy, development, and management of Le Creuset’s retail real estate portfolio. This role is responsible for market planning, site selection, lease negotiations, new store development, relocations, renovations, construction management, and capital planning across the company’s outlet, full-price, and specialty retail locations.

This highly cross-functional leader will partner with executive leadership, Retail Operations, Finance, Legal, and external partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with the company’s growth objectives and brand standards.

Ingredients: Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute Le Creuset’s retail real estate strategy to support growth, profitability, and long-term market expansion.
• Lead market planning, site selection, and financial evaluation for new stores, relocations, expansions, renewals, and closures.
• Oversee the development of new retail locations and the renovation, remodeling, and capital improvement of existing stores.
• Manage all phases of construction projects, including budgets, schedules, design, permitting, contractor performance, and store opening readiness.
• Support lease negotiations and partner with Legal on lease reviews, renewals, amendments, and compliance requirements.
• Conduct financial and market analyses, including occupancy cost evaluations, sales forecasting, return-on-investment modeling, and site performance assessments.
• Develop and manage annual capital budgets for new stores, renovations, facilities, and major maintenance projects.
• Oversee facilities strategy and major capital projects for company-owned properties, including the Early Branch Distribution Center, Ripley Point Office, Conroe, and Yemassee.
• Establish preventative maintenance and asset management strategies to support the performance and longevity of retail and company-owned facilities.
• Build and manage relationships with landlords, developers, brokers, architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and other service providers.
• Partner cross-functionally with Retail Operations, Finance, Legal, Marketing, IT, Supply Chain, and other teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with brand standards.
• Ensure all real estate, construction, and facilities projects comply with applicable building codes, permitting requirements, safety standards, and company policies.
• Lead and develop the real estate, construction, and facilities team while establishing clear performance goals, project metrics, and reporting standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Construction Management, Finance, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 10 years of progressive experience in retail real estate, construction, store development, or facilities management.
• At least five years of leadership experience overseeing multi-site retail development, construction, or facilities functions.
• Demonstrated experience managing a national retail portfolio and leading new store openings, renovations, relocations, and capital improvement projects.
• Strong knowledge of site selection, market analysis, lease negotiations, construction management, budgeting, scheduling, and project controls.
• Proven ability to evaluate occupancy costs, investment opportunities, project feasibility, and return on investment.
• Experience managing architects, engineers, contractors, brokers, developers, landlords, consultants, and other external partners.
• Strong financial acumen with experience developing and managing capital budgets.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, presentation, and relationship-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project management software, and retail development or reporting tools.
• Ability to travel regularly to retail stores, construction sites, and company-owned facilities.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting outlet, full-price, and specialty retail environments.
• Experience using Buxton or a similar consumer, demographic, and location analytics platform.
• Experience overseeing facilities and capital projects for offices, distribution centers, or other company-owned properties.
