SUMMARY: Under general supervision of Grants Development/Foundation Relations Director, is responsible for grant opportunity identification, rating, cultivation, proposal development, solicitation, recognition and reporting and stewardship. Works closely with affiliate CEO’s, clinical staff, senior management, trustees, and volunteers to secure annual and multi-year grants, ensure exemplary stewardship and establish long-term relationships with granting organizations. The core Success Factors include: Instill Trust and Value Differences Patient and Community Focus and Collaborate RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages a portfolio of active foundation donors and prospects, creating cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for each.Participates in the construction of the grants development annual business plan and multi-year strategic objectives for foundation fundraising, incorporating elements of prospect identification, rating, research, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and recognition.Develops foundation proposals on behalf of Brown University Health and its affiliates, including program narratives, budgets, and letters of support, in accordance with the requirements of each foundation.Provides grant development and foundation identification support to Brown University Health affiliate staff, promoting awareness of the need to collaborate with the Brown University Health Development office on all foundation proposal submissions.Creates annual stewardship plans for each foundation grant received, ensuring and strengthening relationships with granting organizations. Works with the development staff to ensure that grants are recorded, acknowledged and recognized appropriately.Participates in an aggressive “moves management” program, documenting the rating, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of grants. Participates on the Brown University Health Grants Development team, attending weekly meetings and strategizing prospect cultivation, management and collaborative efforts. Participates in multi-partner and system-wide fundraising efforts to leverage grant development services and minimize duplicate effort.Determines potential funding sources through research and personal contacts, working independently and with the Grants Development Director, CDO’s, Foundation Presidents, Trustees and medical staff across the system.Develops proposals that include budgets, letters of support and collaboration, according to specific requirements of individual foundations.Ensures the appropriate stewardship of all grants, working with the finance department to transfer and report on funds as necessary.Works closely with Brown University Health and affiliate staff to ensure that grants development strategies are aligned with their institutional missions.Works with the affiliate CEO’s, senior management, physician leadership and clinical staff, discerning organizational goals and priorities to be reflected in fundraising strategies.Collaborates with trustees, volunteers, and/or a development committee, serving as the lead staff in the solicitation of foundation grants.Perform other duties as required.Engages in professional development activities, as appropriate.Maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control in accordance with established hospital policies, procedures, and objectives. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: BASIC KNOWLEDGE:Bachelor’s degree in health care administration, communications or a related field. EXPERIENCE:Three years of professional experience in the development field including grant writing and/or major gift cultivation and solicitation. Experience in health-care preferred. Exemplary oral and written communications skills are required. Strong computer and information management skill preferred. Basic budget preparation and time management skills, as well as excellent project management and relationship management required.WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Duties performed in a typical office environment.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:None.
