Job Summary
The Personal Care Attendant provides non-medical personal care and supportive services to clients in their homes or community settings as authorized in the client’s service plan and consistent with PCA/CFSS expectations. The Personal Care Attendant promotes client dignity, privacy, choice, and independence while delivering services safely, respectfully, and in accordance with Agency policies.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide services only as authorized in the client’s service plan (and any applicable task list) and within non-medical scope.
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) as authorized, which may include bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, incontinence care, transfers, and mobility assistance.
- Assist with instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs) as authorized, such as meal preparation, light housekeeping in client areas, laundry related to the client, shopping/errands, and medication reminders (no medication administration unless separately authorized and trained per Agency policy).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred unless otherwise permitted by applicable requirements.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English (or as required for client safety and documentation).
- Demonstrated ability to provide respectful personal care and follow written service plans and instructions.
- Completion of Agency orientation and required trainings (including client rights, confidentiality/privacy, infection control, safety, and emergency procedures).
- Successful completion of Agency-required background screening and any required enrollment/qualification steps for PCA/CFSS service delivery.
- Reliable transportation as required for the job; valid driver’s license if driving is part of assigned duties.
- Ability to work independently, maintain professional boundaries, and report concerns promptly.
