JOB OUTLINE
Performs on-site equipment diagnostics and repairs at customer locations and job sites, operating a mobile service vehicle as an in-field representative of the dealership. Works independently with minimal supervision to deliver timely, high-quality repair solutions while maintaining positive customer relationships. Partners with the Branch Service Manager to ensure work orders, documentation, and warranty submissions are completed accurately and on time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Performs diagnostics and repairs on construction, agricultural, and allied equipment at customer sites and job sites as assigned.
- Plans methods and sequence of performing repairs; orders all parts and materials required for assigned work.
- Completes repairs in a safe, efficient, and effective manner, ensuring cosmetic and functional quality upon completion.
- Maintains accurate and complete work order records including time, parts, supplies, and outside purchases.
- Maintains accurate inventory of parts kept in stock on the service vehicle.
- Operates and maintains company-owned vehicles, tools, and equipment required to perform job responsibilities.
- Ensures all specialty tools and equipment used on jobs are cleaned and returned to their original location in working condition.
- Communicates with customers professionally to update status, explain repairs performed, and support overall satisfaction.
- Mentors Service Technicians and Apprentice Technicians as needed.
- Ensures all service warranty and Product Improvement Programs are completed and submitted within required timeframes to receive maximum credit.
- May participate in manufacturer and allied brand training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge.
- Maintains current knowledge of Core Equipment Group product lines and competitive products.
- Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments.
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Branch Service Manager.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
- Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of equipment operations, mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in off-road, construction, or heavy equipment.
- Ability to perform diagnostics and repairs across major equipment types and systems.
- Experience using computer-based diagnostic and repair tools (e.g., dealer portals, ERP/DMS systems, electronic service tools).
- Ability to maintain accurate work order documentation and ensure all cost-related items are captured in the work order.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple open work orders and field assignments simultaneously.
- Must possess an adequate personal toolset to perform job responsibilities.
- Valid driver's license required; CDL (Commercial Driver's License) preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of experience performing equipment service repairs preferred; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferred.
- Experience performing repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following technical manual procedures.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required; Associate's degree or technical school certificate preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and climbing on and under equipment throughout the workday.
- Walking and standing 85% of the work day, including on uneven surfaces and in varying weather conditions.
- Regularly lifting and carrying items weighing 20–50 lbs; occasionally lifting 75 lbs or more.
- Frequent pushing and pulling of tools, parts, and equipment ranging from 10 to 50 lbs.
- Manual dexterity sufficient to twist and turn wrenches and operate all required tools and equipment.
- Adequate vision and hearing to review documentation, operate diagnostic equipment, and communicate effectively.
