What are the responsibilities and job description for the Yard Supervisor - Pipe Coating Plant position at LB Foster Company?
As a Yard Supervisor, you are responsible for various yard responsibilities at an AAR pipe plant facility in accordance with LB Foster, ISO standards, supervising yard employees for shipping, receiving and yard management. You are responsible for yard layout to ensure safety and efficiency when unloading and loading railcar using Pettibone's and forklifts, and coordination of and managing training of all employees in the yard. You work closely with production supervision, safety and management.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and monitor the operational activities within the yard including inventory count, product organization, and shipping. Work closely with yard and production leadership to ensure all product shipments are properly loaded and paperwork is complete.
- Organize, supervise, lead, and train employees to complete assigned work, equipment and inventory process within established guidelines and timeframes. Includes scheduling employee work hours and vacations.
- Maintain required paperwork and documentation of all work performed on equipment as outlined in preventative maintenance program.
- Responsible for shipping of production products per schedule and ensure all materials for shipping are ordered on time for scheduled shipping dates.
- Ensure that all materials are visually checked to maintain high quality standards and examine products to verify conformance to quality standards.
- Oversee yard safety, quality and environmental policies and procedures are followed.
- Demonstrate 5S standards and ensure they are maintained for a clean and safe work environment.
- All other duties as assigned.
Experience, Education, License Requirements & Skills:
- High school diploma
- Bachelor's degree in material management, procurement of related filed a plus
- 5 years' yard experience, rail-car and AAR experience a plus
- 2 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Problem solving skills
- Verbal and written communication skills at all levels of the organization
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Must have a valid driver's license
- While performing the duties of this job, you may be required to intermittently sit, stand, walk, lift up to 25 pounds, lift in excess of 25 pounds using a lift assist devise, climb stairs, use hands to handle or feel parts/equipment, reach with hands, arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend at the waist, talk and listen.
