Job SummaryLB Aircraft Engineering is seeking a dependable, organized, detail-oriented, and forward-thinking Avionics Engineer II to join our growing engineering team. This role is ideal for an engineer with experience in avionics systems integration, aircraft modifications, and certification activities, seeking to expand their technical expertise and project responsibilities.
The successful candidate will support the design, integration, testing, and certification of avionics systems across a variety of aircraft platforms. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with aircraft operators, installers, suppliers, regulatory representatives, and certification authorities while contributing to projects from concept through certification and aircraft installation.
Key Responsibilities- Support the design and integration of avionics and electrical systems for aircraft modification and upgrade programs.
- Prepare, review, and validate engineering documentation, including wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, installation drawings, Engineering Orders (EOs), test procedures, and compliance reports.
- Assist in the development and execution of Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) projects and certification packages.
- Perform aircraft systems analysis and integration activities to ensure functionality, compatibility, and regulatory compliance.
- Support avionics testing, troubleshooting, validation, and certification efforts.
- Coordinate with customers, suppliers, installers, and internal departments to define requirements and resolve technical issues.
- Collaborate with Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs), Designated Airworthiness Representatives (DARs), FAA personnel, and other certification stakeholders.
- Research and evaluate emerging avionics technologies and industry developments.
- Ensure compliance with FAA, EASA, RTCA, and company quality standards.
- Support configuration management, document control, and quality management system requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Avionics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in avionics engineering, aircraft systems integration, aircraft modification programs, or a related aerospace engineering field.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, including development of wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and installation drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
- Strong technical writing, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
- Five (5) or more years of avionics systems engineering experience.
- Experience supporting Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) development and certification projects.
- Experience preparing Engineering Orders (EOs), certification reports, and compliance documentation.
- Knowledge of FAA Part 23 and Part 25 certification requirements and aircraft modification programs.
- Familiarity with aircraft communications, navigation, surveillance, flight management, SATCOM, connectivity, and cabin systems.
- Experience coordinating with DERs, DARs, FAA, EASA, or other certification authorities.
- Knowledge of RTCA DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, and ARINC standards.
- Interest in emerging avionics technologies and connected aircraft solutions.
