The Lazy Daisy Diner & Cafe is a new neighborhood cafe and diner in Urbana, Illinois. We’re a locally owned small business with a warm, quirky atmosphere and a serious love for good food, coffee, and community. We’re building a team of kind, hardworking folks who care about hospitality and take pride in their craft—or are excited to learn it.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and standards.
- Assist with menu planning and development, incorporating seasonal ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations.
- Ensure all food safety guidelines are followed, including proper storage and handling of ingredients.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service during peak hours.
- Perform prep work such as chopping vegetables, marinating proteins, and measuring ingredients.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives and cooking appliances.
- Assist in inventory management by tracking supplies and notifying management of shortages.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Line Cook or Prep Cook in a restaurant or culinary setting.
- Strong knife skills and familiarity with various cooking techniques.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as needed.
- A passion for culinary arts and commitment to delivering high-quality dishes.
