The Head of Core Compliance will report directly to the Global Chief Compliance Officer in Lazard Asset Management’s New York office. The Director of Compliance will work closely with the Global Chief Compliance Officer in implementing the firm’s asset management compliance program in the US and other jurisdictions and will manage the New York-based Core Compliance team, which is responsible for administering the activities described below, among others.
This is a unique opportunity for a motivated individual to step into a senior role within the Legal & Compliance Department.
We’ll trust you to:
Assist the Global Chief Compliance Officer in managing the firm’s regulatory compliance program including Code of Ethics implementation, Compliance Manual and policy updates, forensic testing, compliance training, market abuse monitoring, the annual 206(4)-7 review and project-oriented work due to changing regulation and/or business initiatives.
Serve as a resource for the business regarding compliance with policies and procedures including issues related to material, non-public information and restriction lists, personal trading, conflicts of interest and trading practices including best execution.
Advise and manage compliance subject matters including but not limited to personal trading, e-communications review, company meeting chaperoning, new hire training and expert network reviews and approvals.
Working with others in the Department, provide guidance, training and advice on emerging regulations and enforcement actions.
Manage a team of senior compliance professionals based in the U.S. and collaborate closely with our global colleagues.
Onboard new compliance technology solutions and look for ways to leverage artificial intelligence in our Compliance Program.
Review and provide advice to the business on marketing materials, error analysis, and real-time trading questions.
Manage and produce documents for both internal and external audits. External audits include those examinations and requests for information conducted by the Securities and Exchange Commission, FINRA and National Futures Association.
You’ll need to have:
7+ years' experience in a similar compliance role working for a U.S. registered investment adviser.
Experience managing teams.
Strong project management and communication skills. Highly organized, detail oriented and proactive.
Ability to work in continuous collaboration with others in the Legal & Compliance Department and the firm’s business areas.
Strong sense of ethics, accountability and judgment.
Must have, or be willing to obtain, FINRA Series 7 and 24 licenses and to potentially become Chief Compliance Officer of our limited purpose broker-dealer.
General understanding of requirements under the Investment Advisers and Investment Company Act and FINRA broker-dealer rules. Understanding of CFTC/NFA regulations is a plus.
Experience with a variety of investment products, including equity, fixed income and derivatives.
Experience with financial advisory/investment banking is a plus.

We expect the base salary range for this role to be approximately $175,000 - 200,000 USD. Various factors contribute to determining the actual base compensation offered, including but not limited to the applicant’s years of relevant experience, career tenure, qualifications, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, relevant skills for the role. Base salary is one component of Lazard Asset Management’s compensation package, which also includes comprehensive benefits and may include incentive compensation.
