US IG Credit Desk Analyst (Director)

Role Overview

We have partnered with a leading global bank to hire a Senior US IG Credit Desk Analyst to join their Credit Trading platform in New York.

The platform has an established global IG franchise and is continuing to invest heavily in building out its US business, with several recent high-profile hires across the trading desk. The culture is collaborative, meritocratic, and direct, with strong analysts given immediate visibility across traders, sales, and clients, with responsibility for owning and developing client relationships from day one.

This is a senior desk analyst role focused on US Investment Grade corporate credit, with a primary emphasis on healthcare and pharma. The hire will play a key role in supporting an expanded trading bench, including a newly built-out healthcare and pharma vertical with immediate demand for senior coverage, enhancing sector coverage, and helping to build a more visible and credible client-facing franchise.

The position sits at the centre of the desk, requiring close collaboration with traders, sales, and strategy, and contributing directly to trade idea generation, market insight, and P&L attribution.

There is also scope to bring a broader, more opportunistic mindset to idea generation, aligning with the firm’s ambition to build a more differentiated and commercially driven US credit platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Generate differentiated trade ideas across US IG corporate credit, with a focus on healthcare and pharma, with additional exposure to autos and broader sectors
• Provide real-time market insight and actionable analysis to support trading decisions
• Partner closely with traders, contributing directly to P&L generation and trade tracking
• Own and develop client relationships, engaging regularly with asset managers, hedge funds, and insurance clients
• Work closely with sales to position trade ideas effectively and to strengthen the desk’s external franchise
• Develop a special situations angle alongside core coverage, including fallen angels and off-the-run opportunities
• Play a role in the desk’s growing single-name CDS effort, contributing where relevant

Requirements & Qualifications

• Director level (or upper-end VP), with a clear track record of senior desk coverage
• Established coverage across healthcare and pharma, with autos or broader sector scope being a strong plus
• Sell-side IG Credit desk analyst background strongly preferred (buy-side or sell-side publishing research profiles will also be considered)
• Proven experience working closely with trading desks and contributing to P&L
• Strong existing buy-side client relationships
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced trading environment, reacting quickly to market developments and pricing dynamics
• All-rounder mindset, comfortable generating trade ideas across cash, RV, basis and capital structure, with the flexibility to engage a broad client base across different styles and mandates
• Previous experience with IG special situations (plus but not required)
• Single name CDS experience would be a big plus (but not required)
• Commercial mindset with the gravitas to anchor coverage with senior clients from day one
