The Spirit Of The Position

Parking Enforcement Officer will patrol assigned areas on foot or in a vehicle to enforce parking regulations/restrictions as a Parking Control Officer. Schedule will be determined prior to hiring.

Responsibilities

• Issues written and computer-generated parking citations while patrolling the City primarily on foot or by vehicle.
• Communicate with the public to explain parking regulations.
• Perform traffic control duties during special events and traffic light outages as needed.
• Other duties as needed by the city.
  
  

Requirements

• High School Graduate or equivalent.
• Must have at least two years of work experience in a related field and/or customer service.
• Ability to learn, comprehend, and retain knowledge of policies and guidelines related to the California Vehicle Code and City of Burbank Municipal Code.
• Must be computer literate to enter data accurately into handheld device.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid CA Driver's License required with a good driving record.
• Must be able to report to work on-time for assigned shifts.
• Good sense of direction.
• Experience operating a company vehicle a plus.
• Candidate must be able to walk for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions and be able to enter and exit out of a vehicle frequently.
• MUST be flexible to work late hours.
• Flexibility in schedule to work holidays, evenings, and weekends if scheduled and for mandatory special events.
  
  

Additional Desired Experience And Skills

• Traffic control experience
• Knowledge of radio calls (10-codes and NATO alphabet)
• Familiarity with City of Burbank streets and boundaries.
  
  

Candidates must pass Police Department background screening and Live Scan.

Physical Demands

Willingness to work in the elements - heat, wind, snow, rain, etc. - Ability to lift, push and pull at least 25 pounds. - Ability to stand, walk and ride an E-Bike for extended periods of time (95-100% of shift) - no sitting is allowed. - Ability to bend, stoop, squat and lift frequently throughout a shift.
