What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Technician position at Layout, Inc.?
Position Summary:
This role is responsible for assisting in the collection and analysis of topographic data for construction projects. The Survey Technician will work closely with Survey Project Managers and other team members to ensure accurate and efficient surveying services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Post Process and analyze survey data using specialized software.
- Prepare stakeout sketches, point files, and DXF files for all construction stakeout needs.
- Output accurate and professional As-Built Drawings.
- Perform accurate volume calculations as needed.
- Prepare accurate cut-sheets and sketches for a variety of field tasks.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure project requirements are met.
- Stay updated on industry standards, new surveying technologies, and best practices through continuous learning and professional development.
- Actively promote and serve as a role model, setting the tone and reflecting the culture of how the firm operates within its corporate philosophies, standards, policies, and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Must be proficient in AutoDesk Civil 3D
- Clear understanding of Survey Points, Point Groups, .CSV’s, Coordinate Systems Etc.
- Understanding and ability to calculate pipe slopes.
- Can organize DWG files utilizing Xrefs, Dynamic Blocks, Layers, and Colors.
- Proficient in PC software and systems such Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Dropbox, Microsoft Teams.
- “Agtek Earthwork 3D” for Surface creation and Earthwork Calculations and ability to perform material take offs from plans is a plus but not required.
- Ability to read and understand all civil, structural, and architectural plans and specifications.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
