At Layne's Chicken Fingers we take everything seriously except ourselves.

Established in 1994, Layne's is THE "born and breaded in

Texas" chicken finger restaurant. Layne's culture stems from our roots in

College Station, where back in 1994, we perfected our chicken finger frying

technique. True to our roots, we are a fun, fast paced dynamic team who do not

take ourselves seriously, but we take our food and our service EXTREMELY seriously.

As a Layne's team member at the Denton location, we like to cross train!

You will learn all positions, such as cashier and cook. Both job titles are listed below.

THE ROLE:

As a Front Counter/Drive Thru Cashier your main responsibility

will be to take care of our guests, greeting them and taking their orders,

that's why you are called a Chicken Ordering Officer. Each guest needs to feel

as though they are attending a party that we are hosting for them. You will

make sure they get their food in a timely manner, that they have the necessary

condiments, beverages and anything else they need to make their visit to

Layne's a special one. You will also be responsible for cleaning and keeping

our restaurant immaculate and making sure our guests can relax and eat their

food in a clean and tidy environment. A huge part of who we are and what we are

about is our fun loving, non-corporate environment, so as a Layne's Cashier you

will be part of our culture which ensures everyone has fun while we serve our

guests our "Soon to be Famous" Chicken Fingers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Be the smiling face of the organization; greeting and kindly helping guests.
• Clean off tables, so our new guests will have a great experience.
• Restock condiments station.
• Assist with prep.
• Interact with guests and have fun.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Preferably have experience in a fast-food concept.
• Have a High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Have the ability to communicate effectively.
• Be at least 16 years of age
• Be willing and able to work a flexible schedule
• Have the ability to lift and carry 10-55 lbs.

Role Summary:

As a Line Cook, your main responsibilities will be to prepare our

fresh daily hand cut chicken, breading it in our uniquely seasoned breading and

frying it to perfection in our state-of-the-art fryers, manning our griddle

plate where we toast our authentic Texas toasting bread, and grill our cheese

and bacon for our famous club sandwiches. This job is so important that we gave

it an Executive Title…CFO, Chicken Frying Officer. A huge part of who we are

and what we are about is our fun loving, non-corporate environment, so as a

Layne's Line Cook you will be part of our culture which ensures everyone has

fun while we serve our guests our "Soon To Be Famous" TM chicken

fingers.

• Have the ability to lift and carry 55 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Have experience in a fast-food concept.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work morning/day shift on weekdays.

Back in 1994, when people still used fax machines and the term “mullet” was popularized, Mike Layne opened the doors of our original location. The next year, a college student named Mike Garratt came by for lunch and, on his way inside, stopped to clean up the flowerbeds. Mike Layne noticed the gesture and thought Mike Garratt would make a good landscaper, but an even better addition to his Chicken Finger team. The two worked side by side, and as the restaurant’s following grew, Mike Garratt graduated from Texas A&M and became sole owner of Layne’s.
At some point along the way, Astro Chicken was brought on as spiritual guide and all-around baller. But his importance to the organization could not be denied, and in 2021 Astro Chicken was promoted to CFO – Chief Finger Officer.
Today, with a little help from some of Mike’s friends, we’re bringing Layne’s Soon to be Famous™ Chicken Fingers to everyone who craves excitement with a side of secret sauce.
