Join our dynamic team as a Seasonal Traveling Vegetation Control Applicator, where you'll play a vital role in maintaining vegetation along railroad tracks, railroad crossings and yards. This exciting position offers the opportunity to work outdoors ensuring the safety and efficiency of rail operations. Traveling Vegetation Control Applicator's play an important role in applying vegetation control treatments ensuring every project is completed to contract specifications with safety as the top priority. As a member of Layland construction LLC You’ll use your skills to help maintain and protect the environment while representing our company’s values and reputation. This is a seasonal role (exact start and end dates may vary based on weather and workload).

Key Responsibilities

• Fill trucks with water/chemical mix.
• Perform weed eating with an industrial weed eater, chainsaw, pole saw and Billy goats.
• Safely drive and operate trucks between crossings.
• Call Supervisor for daily job briefings.
• Complete required end-of-day paperwork.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• This position can also include vegetation management along miles of tracks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 21 years of age or older.
• Valid driver’s license with at least 5 years of clean driving history.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, and federal background check for railroad property access.
• Ability to pass railroad safety test
• Ability to travel away from home for 2–4 weeks at a time (Layland provides per diem).
• Flexible schedule:
• Most work is Monday–Friday, 8am–4:30pm
• Hours may vary with weather and workload.
• Occasionally travel to offices during breaks for routine truck/equipment maintenance.

Must comply with company drug and alcohol policy.

Pay: From $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 40.0 per week
