Cashier / Front Counter Team Member
Laylas is a family-owned and operated fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant built on quality, consistency, and community. We are looking for a friendly, reliable Cashier who can provide fast, accurate service while creating a welcoming experience for every guest.
This role is ideal for someone who communicates well, stays organized under pressure, and takes pride in helping customers. As a Cashier, you will manage transactions, answer questions, package orders, and help ensure the front counter runs smoothly throughout the shift.
What You’ll Do
- Welcome guests in a friendly and professional manner
- Take dine-in, takeout, and delivery orders accurately
- Process cash, credit card, gift card, and mobile payments
- Provide correct change and receipts
- Confirm order details, pricing, quantities, and special requests
- Package and bag orders carefully and accurately
- Answer questions about menu items, ingredients, and restaurant policies
- Recommend menu items, sides, drinks, and add-ons when appropriate
- Handle basic customer concerns and involve a manager when needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked front counter
- Balance the cash register and follow cash-handling procedures
- Assist with restocking, cleaning, and other front-of-house responsibilities
- Communicate clearly with the kitchen and management team
What We’re Looking For
- Previous cashier, customer service, or restaurant experience preferred, but not required
- Comfortable using a POS system, cash register, and tablet
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Basic math and cash-handling ability
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- Friendly, dependable, and team-oriented
- Strong attention to detail and order accuracy
- Willingness to follow systems, procedures, and manager direction
- Ability to remain calm and professional when resolving customer concerns
Schedule and Physical Requirements
- Full-time position, primarily Monday through Friday
- Daytime and evening shifts may be available based on business needs
- Occasional weekend availability may be required
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift and carry up to 10–15 pounds
- Comfortable working efficiently in a busy fast-casual restaurant environment
