Position Description: Materials Supervisor
The Materials Supervisor is responsible for owning day-to-day materials execution across inventory, warehouse operations, and shipping/receiving for two manufacturing facilities. This role will lead a team of materials personnel while helping design, standardize, and scale material flow processes to support continued growth.
This position is ideal for a hands-on leader who enjoys building structure, improving processes, and using data to drive better decisions — especially in an environment transitioning from manual tools (Google Sheets) to a formal ERP system.

Requirements
Primary Duties:
Leadership & Team Development
- Own the performance, engagement, and development of the materials team across both facilities
- Set clear expectations, coach daily performance, and address issues proactively
- Build bench strength through training, cross-training, and standard work
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and safety
- Oversee stockroom, supermarket, material handling, and shipping/receiving activities
- Ensure materials are available to support production schedules and customer commitments
- Maintain inventory accuracy through disciplined processes and routine audits
- Coordinate closely with Production, Planning, Procurement, and Engineering
- Develop, document, and maintain standard work for all materials processes
- Implement visual management and operating rhythms to ensure process adherence
- Identify gaps, inefficiencies, and risks in material flow and inventory control
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for shortages, discrepancies, and delays
- Track and analyze key operational indicators using available tools (primarily Google Sheets initially)
- Use data to identify trends, prioritize improvement opportunities, and support decisions
- Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives using lean concepts (Kanban, supermarkets, 5S, etc.)
- Serve as a key participant in ERP preparation, testing, and go-live activities
- Help translate current-state processes into future-state system workflows
- Support team training and adoption during the ERP transition
- 5 years of experience in materials, inventory, or warehouse operations within a manufacturing environment
- Strong working knowledge of inventory control and material flow concepts
- Comfortable using Excel or Google Sheets for tracking, analysis, and reporting
- Ability to lead through change in a growing, evolving organization
- Prior experience leading hourly or frontline teams
- Experience in high-mix or engineered-to-order manufacturing environments
- Exposure to ERP implementations or system transitions
- Lean or continuous improvement experience
