Job Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Field IT Site Survey Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting comprehensive site surveys to assess technical infrastructure needs, ensuring optimal placement and installation of equipment. Your expertise will help facilitate seamless network connectivity and hardware deployment across various locations. 5–10 hours per week to start, with potential for more based on availability and performance. Hours are not guaranteed — this is a contract role with work assigned per project.
Duties
- Perform detailed on-site surveys to evaluate existing infrastructure and identify requirements for new equipment installation.
- Use hand tools and testing devices.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and wiring diagrams to guide installation processes. (Will train you )
- Assist with the setup, repair, and maintenance of computer hardware, network equipment, and low voltage systems.
- Document survey findings with clear reports, including photographs, measurements, and schematic annotations.
- Collaborate with service technicians and field teams to ensure accurate implementation of survey recommendations.
- Conduct basic equipment repairs and troubleshooting on-site to resolve immediate issues during surveys.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in field service or as a service technician within IT or telecommunications environments.
- Familiarity with computer hardware components, schematics, and network configurations.
- Hands-on experience using hand tools, low voltage testing devices.
- Strong understanding of computer networking principles and low voltage wiring standards.
- Ability to read technical schematics accurately and follow detailed instructions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety protocols during on-site work.
