Temporary | BIC Compliance Analyst

Lawyers on Demand, a Consilio company is actively recruiting for a temporary, BIC Compliance Analyst for an onsite position with a prestigious law firm client in Washington, DC.

Pay Rate: $47/hour - $53/hour - W2, hourly

Location: Onsite, Washington, DC at least 2 days per week

Position Summary

The BIC Compliance Analyst supports the firm’s risk management and business intake functions by ensuring compliance with policies governing engagement letters, conflict waivers, ethical screens, and conflicts resolution. This role requires strong analytical skills, sound independent judgment, and an understanding of business and legal needs when investigating and resolving complex compliance matters.

Key Responsibilities

• Track New Business requests awaiting executed engagement letters or conflict-of-interest waiver letters and conduct timely follow-up.
• Draft, establish, and maintain Include Only ethical walls within the firm’s ethical walls database.
• Analyze, review, and draft database warnings and alerts.
• Process matter name-change requests by reviewing conflict reports and supporting documentation to identify existing or potential conflicts.
• Resolve outstanding requests associated with departing or former timekeepers and administrative professionals.
• Communicate regularly with partners and other legal professionals by email and telephone to investigate and resolve potential issues.
• Advise attorneys and counsel regarding special circumstances involving complex forms or compliance requests.
• Assist with all aspects of conflicts research, analysis, and resolution.
• Monitor legal developments and emerging trends related to conflicts and professional responsibility.
• Conduct legal research involving conflicts case law, legal ethics, and professional responsibility requirements.
• Provide conflicts training to administrative professionals, paralegals, attorneys, and other business professionals, as needed.
• Support departmental projects, including technology and process-improvement initiatives.
• Participate in proof-of-concept testing for new technologies and compliance solutions.
• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or Juris Doctor.
• Knowledge of and experience with end-to-end conflicts analysis and resolution.
• Paralegal certificate or completion of an ethics course through a paralegal program.
• Previous experience as a paralegal, conflicts analyst, or legal researcher within a law firm.
• At least three years of progressive experience within a law firm, legal environment, or conflicts department.
• Knowledge of the American Bar Association’s Model Rules of Professional Conduct and applicable state professional conduct rules.
• General understanding of corporate law practices and legal-service operations.
• Experience conducting legal, conflicts, and corporate research.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, iManage, and comparable legal applications following training and orientation.
• Experience with Intapp Open, Contract Express, or similar conflicts and document-automation platforms.
• Ability to work extended hours or weekends when business needs require.

Salary : $47 - $53
