Role Description This full-time, on-site Pharmacist role is based at LAWTON INDIAN HOSPITAL in Lawton, OK. The Pharmacist is responsible for accurately reviewing and verifying medication orders, preparing and dispensing prescriptions, and ensuring compliance with hospital policies, state, and federal regulations. Day-to-day tasks include conducting medication safety checks, counseling patients on proper medication use, monitoring for drug interactions, and documenting interventions in the patient record. The role involves collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other clinicians on medication selection, dosing, and therapeutic monitoring, as well as supporting clinical initiatives such as antimicrobial stewardship and formulary management. esidents.Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to perform core pharmacist responsibilities, including prescription verification, medication dispensing, and patient counseling with attention to safety and accuracy.
- Knowledge of pharmacotherapy, drug interactions, and clinical guidelines, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary care teams.
- Familiarity with hospital pharmacy operations, including medication distribution systems, inventory management, and adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records and pharmacy information systems, with strong documentation and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information clearly to patients and colleagues, and to work respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent degree from an accredited school of pharmacy; active pharmacist license (or eligibility for licensure).
- Ability to work on-site, adapt to changing clinical needs, and contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Preferred: Prior hospital or health system pharmacy experience; experience in clinical pharmacy services, Indian Health Service settings, or rural/underserved communities.
