BOOKKEEPING ACCOUNTING MANAGER - REMOTE

Lawson Bookkeeping & Tax is seeking an experienced Client Accounting Manager to oversee our bookkeeping team and ensure clients receive accurate, timely monthly financial reporting.

This position is ideal for an experienced accountant or senior bookkeeper who enjoys reviewing financial records, solving accounting issues, supporting team members, and communicating directly with small-business clients.

This position could grow into a full time role for the right candidate

Responsibilities:

• Review monthly bookkeeping completed by staff
• Review bank and credit card reconciliations
• Review balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and general ledgers for accuracy
• Identify and correct coding, reconciliation, payroll, loan, fixed-asset, and cleanup issues
• Ensure monthly closing procedures are completed by established deadlines
• Prepare and send monthly financial statements to clients
• Answer routine client accounting questions
• Provide guidance and training to bookkeeping staff
• Monitor outstanding client requests and bookkeeping deadlines
• Process client payrolls and payroll tax returns
• Coordinate with the tax team regarding year-end adjustments and tax-ready financial statements
• Help improve internal processes and maintain consistent bookkeeping standards

Qualifications:

• At least three years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
• Strong QuickBooks Online experience
• Experience reviewing the work of other bookkeepers
• Strong understanding of financial statements and accrual- and cash-basis accounting
• Ability to identify and resolve reconciliation and general-ledger issues
• Excellent organizational, communication, and deadline-management skills
• Ability to work independently in a virtual accounting environment
• Previous experience working with multiple small-business clients is strongly preferred
• Accounting degree is preferred but not required with sufficient experience

Software used by our firm includes QuickBooks Online, Keeper/Double, TaxDome, and Gusto. Prior experience with every program is not required, but candidates must be comfortable learning new technology.

Schedule:

• Part-time, approximately 24 hours per week
• Tuesday through Friday 8am-3pm
• Hybrid position based in Maryville, Tennessee
• Regular availability during established business hours is required
