Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on a wide range of HVAC systems including pneumatic controls, air handling units, valves, refrigeration equipment (coolers/freezers).
- Ensure all HVAC systems are maintained in peak operating condition to avoid system failures and optimize efficiency.
- Identify mechanical and HVAC system malfunctions using diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Perform system repairs in a timely and efficient manner to minimize system
- Purchase necessary parts and equipment for HVAC system maintenance and repairs.
- Oversee and assist in the installation of new equipment and system components,
- Diagnose complex HVAC issues and determine the best course of action for repairs.
- Perform repairs such as part replacement, welding, brazing, and other mechanical procedures to restore HVAC systems to full functionality.
- Conduct regular cleaning, inspection, and maintenance of boilers, with a particular focus on high efficiency boiler models.
- Ensure all boiler systems operate efficiently and meet safety standards.
- Maintain an organized inventory of HVAC parts, tools, and equipment.
- Ensure the availability of necessary replacement components for timely repairs and maintenance.
- Maintain and organize HVAC -related equipment rooms, ensuring they are safe, well-stocked, and optimized for operational efficiency.
- Assist in training and supervising student workers and other mechanics.
- Provide hands-on guidance and technical instruction to ensure that all work meets high standards.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:
- A minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on HVAC service experience in industrial and commercial settings, with demonstrated expertise in maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex HVAC systems. Metasys experience a bonus.
- Certification as a journeyman HVAC technician is preferred but not required, reflecting extensive experience with industrial and commercial HVAC systems, and a deep technical background in system maintenance.
- A refrigerant handling license is preferred, or the ability to obtain one if necessary. This is essential for working with refrigerants in cooling systems.
- Preferred experience in pipe fitting, useful for tasks involving system installations or modifications to piping and ductwork.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various conditions, including confined spaces, heights, and outdoor environments.
