Title: High School Intervention Specialist Who We Are: The High School Learning Center (HLC) works with over-aged and under-credited students in the Lawrence Public Schools. We are an autonomous school located at 1 Parker Street Lawrence, Lawrence MA. HLC offers various pathways to graduation. Students at HLC can be enrolled full time or part time, have in-person classes, hybrid or online classes, or a flexible schedule personalized to meet their individual needs. Many of our classes are of a small size (8-12 students), allowing the opportunity for students and staff to build strong relationships. Role: As the Academic Interventionist, you will be a vital member of our Student Support Team. You will identify and design direct interventions for diverse students. You will assist in developing a systematic school-wide approach to Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). You will facilitate and coordinate the implementation of a classroom intervention program. Lastly, you will provide direct curriculum and instructional support services to teachers including effective strategies and intervention. There is an opportunity to build strong relationships with both your students and their families. Team: You will work alongside the Student Support Team, SST, as well as the other staff members in the school. You will collaborate with the administration team and teachers to provide direct intensive intervention with students. You will meet with your team each week in a professional learning community for professional development, to talk about student work, and to support instruction. You will also receive ongoing supervision by a school administrator. Responsibilities: Assessment and Data Analysis: Conduct assessments to identify students who are at risk or struggling academically. Analyze student data to determine specific areas of need and to track progress over time. Individualized Intervention Planning: Develop individualized Response-To-Intervention (RTI) plans for students based on assessment results and data analysis. Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to implement intervention strategies both in and out of the classroom. Direct Instruction and Support: Provide direct instruction to students in small group (2-4) or one-on-one settings, focusing on areas of academic need(s). Offer academic support and guidance to students, including assistance with classwork, study skills, and organizational strategies. Progress Monitoring and Adjustment: Monitor student progress regularly through ongoing assessment and data collection through RTI cycles. Modify intervention plans as needed based on student progress and response to interventions. Collaboration and Communication: Meet weekly with the Student Support Team to share progress and updates of RTI cycles. Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to coordinate intervention efforts and ensure alignment with overall educational goals. Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to schedule success plan meetings and provide updates on student progress and discuss intervention strategies. Professional Development and Training: Stay informed about best practices in academic intervention and evidence-based instructional strategies. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to academic intervention. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, or related field (Master's degree preferred). Certification/License in teaching or as a school counselor, adjustment counselor, or licensed mental health counselor (LMHC). Experience working with students who have diverse learning needs and backgrounds. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with students, families, and colleagues. Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and evidence-based counseling techniques. Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and community stakeholders. Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development. Salary : $65,141 - $97,452
