Duties and Responsibilities:
• Structure the classroom to establish and maintain an effective learning environment for students with complex language, learning, and cognitive disabilities per student IEPs
• Participate in the Team meeting process
• Develop, implement, and monitor progress of IEP goals and objectives to ensure compliance
• Develop appropriate instructional materials, activities, & lesson plans taking into consideration cognitive levels and age- appropriateness of students
• Establish clear learning targets for all lessons, units, and projects and communicate those learning targets to students
• Promote a supportive learning and teaching environment that supports the social/emotional well-being of students
• Plan and coordinate with specialists, related service providers, and other staff members to deliver comprehensive programming for students
• Communicate regularly with parents
• Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations
• Assist in collection of data for providing appropriate interventions and recommendations
• Maintain professional competence by participating in staff development activities, curriculum development meetings, and other professional opportunities
• Perform related duties as required by the building Principal and the Special Education Zone Director

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s degree is preferred; appropriate Massachusetts DESE licensure required-this includes a passing score on the Communication and Literacy - Skills test and a passing score on the relevant subject matter knowledge test(s).
Teachers should hold an SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement.
A minimum of two years teaching experience in a school setting serving a similar demographic preferred, but not required.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
