Job Description: Organization: Lawrence Public Schools Job Title: Building-Based Educator (SY 2025-2026) Location: Lawrence High School Who Are We? Core Duties and Responsibilities: Work collaboratively to align curriculum to the rigor of the MA Curriculum Frameworks Check in daily with supervisor for coverage assignments Support classroom teachers with instruction during the school day Cover classes when lead teachers are absent Complete regularly scheduled duties and assignments outside of the classroom Follow regular teacher’s lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate Assign classwork and homework as necessary and according to teachers' instructions Modify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various students Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment Supervise students out of class such as in the hallways and in the cafeteria as needed Demonstrates support and knowledge of school's goals and mission Is detail oriented when tracking students' grades, attendance, and other student data Works with the Principal and Assistant Principal to ensure teaching methods are directed towards meeting and surpassing the standards Performs duties as assigned by Principal Desired Skills and Characteristics of a LHS teacher/staff: Driving desire to disrupt inequity and improve outcomes for all students Commitment to the academic and personal success of Lawrence Public Schools’ students and families Proven experience supporting English Language Learners Ability to take initiative and succeed in a fast-paced school environment while remaining calm and focused when faced with unexpected challenges Demonstrated capacity to create and maintain a positive learning environment in which students’ diverse backgrounds, identities, strengths, and challenges are respected and utilized.
