Position Summary: UNIDOS Academy at Lawrence High School serves students transitioning from a variety of public and private middle schools in the City of Lawrence. We recognize the importance of the early high school years as a pivotal point for a successful academic and extracurricular experience. We are seeking exceptional English Teachers to join our team—educators who possess a growth mindset, value collaboration and continuous feedback, are passionate about their content, and believe that all students are capable of meeting rigorous academic expectation. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: • Teach five sections of English • Work collaboratively to align curriculum to the rigor of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks • Implement common assessments to measure progress toward academic standards • Use data from formative and summative assessments to inform and adapt instruction • Meet weekly with grade-level content and interdisciplinary teams • Collaborate with Special Education and ESL staff to differentiate instruction for diverse learners • Participate in biweekly instructional coaching sessions to improve practice • Serve as an advisor to a group of 8–15 students • Communicate weekly with students and families regarding academic and behavioral progress • Contribute to school culture and support school-wide events and expectations • Uphold high expectations for student achievement and behavior Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: • Passion for disrupting educational inequity and improving student outcomes • Strong commitment to the academic and personal success of students and families • Experience working with English Language Learners • Ability to maintain focus and calm in a fast-paced, dynamic school setting • Culturally responsive teaching and appreciation for student diversity • Openness to frequent feedback and a desire to grow professionally • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills • Ability to develop a positive and respectful classroom community • Sense of humility and humor in a collaborative team environment Qualifications & Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred • Valid Massachusetts DESE licensure in English, Grades 8–12 • SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement required • Passing scores on the Communication and Literacy Skills test and relevant subject matter knowledge tests • At least two years of experience teaching in a similar setting preferred • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required Equal Opportunity Employer Lawrence Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive environment for employees and applicants.
