Position Summary:
A Parent Liaison helps provide parents with the information and support necessary, especially in the area of school attendance, to allow them to become active partners in the education of their child(ren).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Monitor student attendance on a daily basis in accordance with the district's policies and procedures regarding attendance, truancy, and tardiness.
• Make telephone contact with parents on a daily basis relative to student absences and/or complete a home visit to improve student attendance.
• Investigate attendance problems reported to the school by other personnel or community members.
• Maintain attendance date/information and provide such information to the Administration, Teachers, Counselors, and Nursing Staff as necessary.
• Work collaboratively with the district's Supervisor of Attendance and community agencies to assure that all students and parents and complying with their legal responsibilities regarding school attendance.
• Disseminate and explain school department policies and procedures to parents.
• Assist school personnel and parents in understanding student growth and development by providing and interpreting information (test scores, projective date, career information, etc.) which will enable them to develop realistic goals.
• Assist the Family Resource Center as necessary to support student registration and placement.
• Participate on all relative school teams (Student Support and Wellness Team, Attendance Team, etc.) relative to attendance issues and parent involvement.
• Assist with the collection and dissemination of appropriate information relative to the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Department of Social Services, the Department of Mental Health, and Social Security.
• Work to educate and enhance parent and community involvement in the school.
• Complete and submit required paperwork to comply with departmental and legal mandates.
• Translate at family meetings (PTO, Second Cup of Coffee, Report Card Nights, etc.) as needed
• This position may require meeting times that are before school/after school (family events, family meetings, etc. ). These will be predetermined by the parent liaison and the principal.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• Minimum of a High School Diploma
• Oral and written English language proficiency
• Oral and written proficiency in a second language preferred
• Experience working with children and parents in an urban environment
• Experience interacting with community agencies
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficient in English
• Bilingual Preferred

Pay Range
• $25.51-$33.27
