Skills Required:
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with, and learn from, a team of New York State Licensed Mold Assessors performing water damage and mold surveys in residential, commercial, and industrial facilities. To be considered, you must have excellent oral and written communication skills. You must be a self-motivated learner capable of working in a fast-paced, energic work environment. You must be willing and capable of accepting instructions from your supervisor and executing the tasks that are required to meet established deadlines.
Key Areas of Responsibility include:
- Learn the requirements of the New York State Mold Law.
- Ability to learn and operate field instrumentation.
- Ability to learn and properly collect field samples.
- Record clear and concise field notes.
- Ability to perform field surveys.
- Ability to learn and complete the laboratory Chain of Custody.
- Learn to interpret sampling results.
- Prepare sections of reports and support documentation.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
- Work can involve outdoor activities during any season. Low to moderate physical effort is required, which may involve the carrying of sampling equipment and ladders that can weigh up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to travel to various job sites, primarily throughout NYC, is required. A valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle is preferred, but not mandatory.
- Work is primarily performed during standard business hours Monday-Friday. While rare, off-hour and weekend work may at times be required.
Required Education:
- Minimum: Associate’s Degree in Biology/Chemistry/Biochemistry/Environmental Sciences.
- Knowledge in building construction, HVAC systems, and different types of building materials is a plus.
