Position Overview
We are hiring an Irrigation / Sprinkler Technician with experience working on residential sprinkler systems.
This role focuses on sprinkler system diagnostics, audits, repairs, and seasonal irrigation services. The technician will evaluate system performance, identify issues such as leaks, malfunctioning valves, damaged pipes, or wiring problems, and perform the necessary repairs to restore proper system operation.
A large portion of the work involves evaluating irrigation systems through audits, identifying hidden issues such as damaged pipes, faulty valves, poor coverage, or wiring problems, and then performing the appropriate repairs.
This is a hands-on field role for someone who enjoys troubleshooting systems, working outdoors, and solving mechanical problems.
Irrigation Technicians work closely with the Lead Irrigation Technician to complete system repairs, audits, and installation projects.

Responsibilities
- Perform sprinkler system audits to evaluate coverage and system performance
- Identify issues such as malfunctioning valves, leaks, bent heads, cracked pipes, or poor coverage
- Diagnose and repair residential irrigation systems including valves, lateral lines, wiring, controllers, and sprinkler heads
- Adjust sprinkler heads and system settings to improve irrigation efficiency
- Troubleshoot electrical issues including solenoids, wiring, and controller programming
- Assist with irrigation installation projects and system upgrades
- Communicate professionally with homeowners when discussing irrigation issues or repairs
- Document work performed, materials used, and system observations
- Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment used in irrigation work
- Occasionally assist with lawn care services during slower irrigation periods
Ideal Experience
Strong candidates typically have experience with:
- Residential sprinkler system repair and service
- Diagnosing irrigation system issues and performing repairs
- Valve and lateral line repairs
- Irrigation wiring and controller troubleshooting
- Performing irrigation audits or system adjustments
Technicians with solid experience working on residential irrigation systems and troubleshooting repairs independently are strongly encouraged to apply.
Additional Skills (Preferred but Not Required)
- Certified Irrigation Technician – Irrigation Association
- Experience with sprinkler system diagnostics and troubleshooting
- Experience assisting with irrigation installations
- Experience adjusting systems to improve irrigation efficiency
Physical Nature of the Work
This is an active outdoor position involving hands-on irrigation repair and system troubleshooting.
Typical physical tasks include:
- Digging to expose sprinkler heads, valves, and damaged lateral lines
- Repairing pipes, rebuilding valve boxes, and adjusting sprinkler heads
- Working on your knees while performing system repairs and diagnostics
- Walking properties during sprinkler audits to inspect coverage and system performance
- Lifting tools, materials, and irrigation components
- Working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Technicians may also assist with irrigation installation projects, which can include trenching, pipe installation, and system layout.
Candidates should be comfortable performing physically active outdoor work throughout the day.
Compensation & Benefits
- $26–$30 per hour depending on experience
- Short paid training period to learn LawnTender systems and service processes
- $2,500 Return Bonus paid after completing 90 days in the following season

Schedule
- Monday – Friday
- Daytime service routes
- Typical workdays range from 8–10 hours depending on the season
- Expected hours: 35–50 hours per week during peak season
Seasonal Structure
This role follows the natural seasonality of irrigation work in Northern Colorado.
The primary working season typically runs April through October, with sprinkler winterizations continuing into early or mid-November depending on weather.
After the irrigation season ends, technicians typically enter a seasonal layoff period during winter months, with a return bonus paid to technicians who return the following season.
Limited off-season work may occasionally be available depending on weather and installation projects.
Location
Operations are based near I-25 and Highway 66 (Mead area), with service routes throughout Northern Colorado including:
- Loveland
- Fort Collins
- Windsor
- Boulder
- Superior
- Longmont
- Firestone
- Thornton
Technicians typically begin their day at the shop before heading out to service routes across the region.
Who This Role Is Not For
This role may not be the right fit if you:
- Have little experience working with residential irrigation systems
- Prefer strictly landscape labor work rather than diagnosing irrigation problems
- Dislike physically active outdoor work including digging and system repairs
- Are not comfortable working independently while troubleshooting irrigation issues
