Founded in 2001, LEARN is a nationally recognized non-profit network of PreK-8th grade elementary charter schools that is creating measurable, transformational change in the lives of its students. We currently educate 4,000 students, a majority low-income, minority student population (88% and 98%, respectively) across 11 campuses, the majority of which are in Chicago, IL. LEARN also serves families in Waukegan and North Chicago IL including the families of service members located at the Great Lakes Naval Academy and Joint Base Anacostia–Bolling (JBAB) in Washington D.C. This is an in person work environment, not a remote opportunity.
What You’ll Do:
LEARN Charter School Network is seeking an entrepreneurial self-starter with excellent project management skills to join our team as a Development Coordinator. This position supports the work of the Development department with responsibilities in gift acknowledgment and stewardship, grant management, database management, volunteer coordination, supporting fundraising initiatives and event planning, and communications.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to :
Grant Management
- Track grant reporting deadlines, draft grant reports, draft grant applications and facilitate data collection from relevant departments
- Coordinate grantor audits and site visits.
- Interface with finance on payment schedules, budget updates.
Gift Acknowledgment and Database Management
- Process gift acknowledgments and provide tax receipts
- Own database management, insuring that donor records are updated and accurate in Every Action
Donor Research, Outreach and Solicitation
- Complete prospect research in support of development efforts.
- Author and coordinate LEARN donor newsletters and other communications
- Manage the annual appeal including facilitating board solicitations.
Special Events, Donor, Partner Meetings
- Conduct research and craft presentation materials for meetings with key stakeholders
- Assist Development Office with Special Events
- Represent LEARN at meetings and events
Board Development Committee
- Coordinate board development committee meetings
- Draft the quarterly board report
You’ll be a great fit if you have:
- A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced work environment.
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Fundraising and Grant Writing experience is preferred
- Customer service focus
- Demonstrated knowledge of business etiquette & protocol
- Strong time management, project management and organizational skills
- An ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and deadline-sensitive environment
- Willingness to travel between campuses and event locations
- Ability to work occasional weekend and evening hours
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/TRAVEL
The nature of the work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment. It also requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The majority of work is performed in a general office environment. Position requires availability for extended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform job duties. The ability to travel in the Chicagoland areas and occasionally outside the area. Also requires participation and attendance at organization sponsored events and meetings.

PAY AND BENEFITS
This position has a salary of up to $65,000 depending on the level of experience of the candidate. We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package for all full time employees, including:
