Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal or Legal Assistant to join our law office. The ideal candidate will support the attorney in various legal matters and have the ability to learn quickly. This role requires strong administrative skills, the ability to transcribe documents accurately, and a commitment to providing exceptional support in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with case preparation by conducting legal research and gathering relevant documents.
- Transcribe legal documents and correspondence with precision.
- File and organize case files, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.
- Draft and proofread legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and client correspondence.
- Maintain communication with clients regarding case status and scheduling.
- Support the attorney in managing deadlines and court filings.
- Collaborate with the attorney on various legal projects as needed.
Experience
- Previous experience as a Paralegal or in a law office setting is preferred.
- Familiarity with Family Law, Criminal Law, and Estate Planning is a plus but not required.
- Strong administrative skills with very high attention to detail.
- Excellent writing and proofreading abilities.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old and have a Highschool Diploma or equivalent.
- Type at least 40 wpm with minimal error.
- Highly Proficient in using legal research tools and software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, eFile, and TXDocs. (or able to be quickly trained.)
