Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Secretary. This vital role involves experience legal support across a diverse range of practice areas, including family law, litigation, probate and more. Duties
- Prepare, review, and proofread legal documents including contracts, pleadings, briefs, discovery materials, and correspondence with meticulous attention to detail.
- Assist attorneys with client interviews by preparing questionnaires and documenting case details accurately.
- Schedule appointments, court dates, depositions, and meetings; coordinate logistics to ensure seamless workflow.
- Draft and transcribe legal documents with clarity and precision; proofread all materials for grammatical accuracy and adherence to legal standards.
- Support litigation processes by reviewing documents for relevance and completeness; assist with discovery management and document review tasks.
- Maintain meticulous records of case activities, correspondence, filings, and deadlines to ensure compliance with court requirements.
- Provide executive administrative support including managing calendars, handling phone inquiries with professional etiquette, organizing files, data entry, and performing general clerical duties.
- Assist in preparing reports on case progress or project status for internal review or client updates.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Legal Secretary
- Strong research skills utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research platforms.
- Familiarity with a broad spectrum of practice areas including estate planning, family law, litigation procedures, personal injury law, UCC law (Uniform Commercial Code), landlord-tenant law, contracts drafting & review.
- Experience supporting attorney with document review, legal drafting, proofreading/editing documents for accuracy and clarity.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written communication skills for drafting correspondence and legal documents; exceptional proofreading abilities.
- Effective verbal communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette for liaising with clients and court personnel.
- Ability to conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw or LexisNexis .
- Paralegal experience is highly desirable; familiarity with litigation processes.
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20.0 – 30.0 per week
