What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Attorney position at Law Offices of Lauren A. Baum PC?
The appropriate candidate will:
- Gather documentation, review, and investigate potential cases involving special education due process claims;
· Confer with special education specialists, technical experts, and other attorneys;
- Analyze the impact of City, State, and Federal legislation on student rights to a free, appropriate public education;
- Research state and federal case law and implications for administrative hearings, court cases, and settlement negotiations Negotiate the settlement of special education claims;
- Prepare for and/or try cases involving significant precedents, sometimes novel and complicated determinations of law and fact, or having significant legal, policy or financial implications for our clients;
- Prepare and argue cases and appeals in administrative tribunals and in the courts.
Prepare legal fee applications;
20 days of PTO per year.
Full medical for individuals.
