What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil Litigation Legal Assistant position at Law Offices of Jeffrey E. Fromberg, APC?
We are seeking a creative, organized, and experienced Legal Assistant or Paralegal to support Fromberg Edelstein & Fromberg’s litigation team. Knowledge and Skills required for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with answering and directing calls when needed;
- Communicate with potential new clients and engaged clients;
- Manage client information, request documents, and review electronic files;
- Be able to maintain a legal calendar and provide docket management;
- Proficient in formatting letters, legal documents - motions, discovery, bookmarking court documents, TOA, TOC, etc.;
- Knowledge of current e-Filing procedures for State and Federal courts;
- Proficient in calendaring for civil litigation, law in motion, discovery, etc..
- Drafting and filing of documents with the Superior Court of California and local agencies such as the Labor Commissioner’s offices, some WCAB, and some NLRB;
- Corporate Formations, and filings for all US territories, including managing all aspects of entity maintenance, including handling of state and local filings relating to new entity formation, disseminations, name changes, conversion, merger, dissolutions, FBN’s and DBA’s;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and meet the demands of multiple attorney assignments;
- Maintaining the calendars for respective attorneys using Outlook;
- Be proactive in reminding attorneys of upcoming deadlines, preparing them for court appearances, mediations, and meetings, and following up on tentative court rulings before hearing dates.
- Litigation experience is a must.
- Trial preparation experience is a plus.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal (certificate required) (Litigation experience required).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel and other software applications include – CEB Essential Forms), Adobe PDF editor.
- Ability to transition quickly between multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.

This is a non-exempt, hourly, benefits-eligible role with an expected opening salary based on experience and internal equity analysis.

Other information:
Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
The position may start part-time and transition to full-time once the candidate's experience level is confirmed.
