What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Law Clerk position at Law Offices of Barry G Doyle?
About the Opportunity:
Our Plaintiff’s Personal Injury law firm is seeking a highly motivated and forward-thinking Law Clerk to join us for the summer. This position presents a unique opportunity for a law student who is passionate about advocating for injured plaintiffs and deeply interested in the intersection of law and modern technology.
Unlike traditional clerkships, this role places a strong emphasis on legal innovation. We are actively exploring how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can revolutionize civil litigation. As part of your role, you will help us implement AI tools to enhance our case strategy, legal research, drafting, and overall firm efficiency.
The AI wave is coming to legal – you can either ride the leading edge or get washed away. Your choice.
What You Will Do:
You will work directly alongside the Head Partner of the firm, gaining invaluable, hands-on experience. You will not be relegated to the background; instead, you will have a front-row seat to the entire lifecycle of a personal injury case. Your responsibilities and learning opportunities will span from initial client intake and case filing through discovery, negotiations, and final post-settlement distributions.
Qualifications:
- Currently finishing your 1st or 2nd year of law school (or 3rd year for evening students).
- A genuine, demonstrated interest in Plaintiff’s Personal Injury law.
- A strong fascination with the application of AI to litigation, and a proactive eagerness to help integrate these technologies into a practicing law firm.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Must be able to commute to our Skokie office three days a week.
Future Prospects:
For the right candidate who demonstrates a strong work ethic and a firm grasp of both the law and legal technology, there is excellent potential for continued employment part-time during the school year, as well as an offer for full-time employment as an Associate Attorney following graduation and bar passage.
