Our firm is seeking an experienced Senior Attorney who is adept at handling a fast-paced, high responsibility caseload and familiar with all aspects of the trial process, particularly handling cases from start to finish including arraignments, readiness conferences, preliminary hearings, motions, jury trials, sentencings, etc.

Our attorneys maintain manageable caseloads to support strategic and high-level representation, but this is a demanding role that requires strong ownership and a commitment of excellence to our clients. This role is ideal for an experienced criminal defense attorney who wants to work in a structured and supportive environment without the pressure of running their own practice. There is also dedicated support staff assistance with client communication, scheduling and administrative tasks so attorneys can focus on case strategy and litigation.
Responsibilities:
- Effectively litigate pre-trial hearings, motions (e.g. preliminary hearings, PC 1538.5 motions, PC 995 motions, etc.), and jury trials
- Negotiate plea bargains or negotiated dispositions at misdemeanor and felony readiness conferences
- Ability to independently first chair felony and/or misdemeanor jury trials from start to finish
- Counsel clients as to their legal defenses, constitutional rights, and strategies with respect to their cases; consistently communicate with clients as to the status of their case
- Conduct research and draft pleadings, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and motions
- Conduct administrative DMV hearings for DUI cases
- Assist in the preparation of defending against and prosecuting temporary restraining orders
- Provide mentorship to less experienced attorneys at the firm with respect to trial advocacy and case settlement involving complex legal issues
Qualifications:
- Must have a minimum 7 years of experience working in criminal law
- Must have conducted at least 5 felony jury trials
- Must be able to independently manage an active caseload consisting of complex felonies, general felonies, and misdemeanors
- Must have an outstanding command of the courtroom; must project confidence and competence when engaging with clients and opposing counsel
- Must be able to empathize with clients, and provide excellent customer service
- Verbal communication skills are critical, along with time management and interpersonal skills
- Excellent legal research and writing skills
- Bachelor’s degree with a law degree from an accredited law school
- Active member in good standing and no disciplinary record with the State Bar
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be willing and able to travel to various courthouses in Southern California
Compensation:
- $150k base
- Performance based bonus structure designed to reward strong case handling and efficiency
- Total compensation typically ranges from: $160k-180k including performance-based bonuses and case origination fees

- Paid downtown parking
