Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Personal Injury Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will support attorneys through all phases of personal injury cases—from initial client intake through settlement or trial. This role requires excellent communication, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesCase Management
- Assist attorneys in managing a caseload of personal injury matters, including motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, medical malpractice, and wrongful death cases.
- Conduct initial client interviews, gather case facts, and maintain ongoing communication with clients.
- Open new files, organize case materials, and maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in the firm’s case-management system.
Investigation & Documentation
- Collect and review medical records, billing statements, employment records, and other supporting documentation.
- Prepare and send out requests for medical records, police reports, and other evidence.
- Summarize medical records and prepare detailed chronologies for attorney review.
Legal Support
- Draft and prepare legal documents, including demand letters, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, and settlement documents.
- Assist with trial preparation, including exhibits, witness lists, trial binders, and coordination with experts.
- File documents with courts and maintain litigation calendars, including hearings, deadlines, and depositions.
Communication & Negotiation
- Communicate professionally with clients, insurance adjusters, opposing counsel, experts, and medical providers.
- Help prepare settlement demands and assist attorneys with negotiation strategy.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding liens, subrogation interests, and insurance benefits.
QualificationsRequired
- 2 years of experience as a personal injury paralegal (or related litigation experience).
- Strong understanding of personal injury law, medical terminology, and the litigation process.
- Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in legal case-management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and prioritize effectively.
Preferred
- Paralegal certification or associate degree in paralegal studies.
- Experience with Filevine, IPRA Request, and Office 365.
- Bilingual abilities (especially Spanish) are a plus.
