Personal Injury Paralegal / Legal Assistant
About the Position
A busy personal injury law practice is seeking an organized, motivated, and detail-oriented Paralegal / Legal Assistant to work directly one-on-one with an attorney. This is a hands-on position in a fast-paced environment, with involvement in all aspects of personal injury case handling from client intake through litigation and trial preparation.
Prior personal injury experience is helpful but not required. The right candidate will be trained on the job and must be eager to learn, take initiative, and grow with the practice.
Responsibilities
The Paralegal / Legal Assistant will assist with all stages of personal injury cases, including:
- Communicating regularly with clients, law offices, insurance representatives, medical offices, courts, and other case-related parties
- Conducting client intake and maintaining ongoing client contact
- Opening, organizing, and maintaining case files
- Requesting and tracking medical records, medical bills, police reports, insurance information, photographs, and other case-related documents
- Following up with medical providers, insurance companies, opposing counsel, and clients regarding outstanding documents and information
- Drafting professional correspondence and basic legal documents
- Assisting with pleadings, discovery, motions, and trial preparation
- Managing deadlines, calendars, reminders, and case-related tasks
- Keeping case information accurate, organized, and up to date
- Assisting the attorney with day-to-day case management
- Handling multiple active cases at the same time in a fast-paced environment
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must be:
- Highly organized and able to manage many tasks and cases at once
- Motivated, reliable, and willing to take initiative
- Extremely attentive to detail
- Able to write clearly and professionally
- Comfortable communicating with clients, attorneys, courts, insurance companies, medical providers, and other professionals
- Comfortable using technology and learning new software systems
- Able to multitask effectively in a busy office environment
- Professional, patient, and courteous when dealing with clients and outside parties
- Willing to learn all aspects of personal injury case handling from intake through trial
Preferred Qualifications
- Multilingual ability is strongly preferred, especially Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, and/or Georgian
- Prior legal office, customer service, administrative, or personal injury experience is a plus, but not required
- Ability to assist with occasional after-hours translation or client communication, if multilingual
Schedule
The position is generally Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional after-hours availability may be needed for translation or client communication if the candidate is multilingual.
Growth Opportunity
This position offers an opportunity to grow with the practice. Performance reviews will be conducted after 3 months, after 9 months, and annually thereafter. Paid time off becomes available after 9 months of employment.
