Job Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, bilingual (English/Spanish) Legal Assistant with prior experience in U.S. immigration law. The ideal candidate is passionate about helping immigrants navigate the complex USCIS and NVC systems and is proficient in handling a wide range of immigration processes. This is a full-time position offering a salary of $55,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file immigration petitions and applications, including but not limited to:
- I-130 Petitions
- Adjustment of Status (AOS)
- U Visas and T Visas
- Consular Processing with the National Visa Center (NVC)
- Manage client communications in both English and Spanish with professionalism and discretion.
- Maintain and organize case files, both digitally and in physical form.
- Collect, review, and analyze client documentation.
- Monitor case progress and follow up with USCIS, NVC, and other relevant agencies.
- Coordinate client appointments, track deadlines, and ensure timely filings.
- Assist with client intake, initial screenings, and scheduling consultations.
Qualifications
- Fluent in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working with immigration cases (USCIS, NVC, U Visas, T Visas, Family Petitions, or AOS).
- Strong knowledge of immigration procedures, forms, and filing protocols.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management software (experience with immigration platforms is a plus).
- Strong interpersonal skills with a professional demeanor.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred but Not Required:
- Experience communicating with government agencies on behalf of clients.
- Prior work in a law firm setting or with a licensed immigration attorney.
