We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal / Legal Assistant to support our legal team and help ensure the smooth operation of our dynamic, client-focused practice.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, proofread, and file legal documents related to immigration, family law, and estate planning (e.g., petitions, affidavits, USCIS applications, divorce decrees, wills/trusts)
- Maintain and organize physical and digital client files in accordance with firm and confidentiality standards
- Track deadlines, hearings, and appointments; manage attorney calendars
- Conduct legal research and compile supporting documentation for cases
- Communicate with clients, including those from multicultural and multilingual backgrounds
- Liaise with government agencies (e.g., USCIS, DHS, State courts) for document submission and case updates
- Support trial and hearing preparation by organizing exhibits and evidence
- Perform general office tasks including scanning, billing, correspondence, and reception support as needed
Qualifications
- Associate/Bachelor’s degree or at least 2 years of experience in a legal support role
- Must have excellent writing skills
- Strong knowledge of legal terminology and case management processes
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small, collaborative team
Preferred Skills
- Paralegal certificate
- Prior Paralegal/Legal Assistant/Administrative Assistant
- Experience working in family or immigration law (e.g., family-based petitions, naturalization, removal defense)
- Bilingual or multilingual
