A highly respected litigation boutique is seeking an Appellate Litigation Associate to join its growing team. This opportunity is ideal for attorneys who enjoy legal writing, research, litigation strategy, and appellate advocacy.
Unlike traditional litigation practices, this team focuses heavily on appeals, trial monitoring, post-trial motions, and helping trial counsel preserve issues for appeal. Attorneys receive significant exposure to complex legal issues, sophisticated briefing, and strategic litigation matters.
Responsibilities:
- Draft sophisticated, persuasive briefs and motions for state and federal appellate courts.
- Conduct advanced legal research and complex analysis on high-exposure civil litigation matters.
- Partner with trial counsel to provide strategic pre-trial and active trial monitoring, ensuring critical legal issues are meticulously preserved for appeal.
- Formulate comprehensive evaluations and risk-analysis roadmaps for institutional clients to determine appellate viability.
Qualifications:
- 3 to 7 years of civil litigation, insurance defense, insurance coverage, or medical malpractice experience.
- Demonstrated excellence in legal research, brief writing, and deep analytical thinking.
- A stable career history, showcasing commitment to professional growth (no more than 2 prior firms on resume).
- Active admission to the New York State Bar.
Salary and Other Compensation:
The annual salary for this position is between $140,000 β $190,000. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
