US editor – antitrust, anti-corruption and investigations
Join our expanding US team as Editor and drive our US regulatory and enforcement news coverage across our leading antitrust and investigations brands, Global Competition Review and Global Investigations Review.
Law Business Research seeks an experienced editor to manage two journalist teams in the delivery of daily news and analysis for GIR and GCR. In this pivotal role, you will lead a talented team dedicated to producing high-quality content that serves our global legal industry clients, who are experts in their fields. Your editorial vision and leadership skills will drive growth and innovation, ensuring our teams are high-performing and equipped with the skills and resources they need to excel.
As the Editor, you will champion a data-driven approach to enhance content quality and output. You will develop and implement editorial strategies that align with our group content strategy, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and engagement. Your leadership and ability to drive a high-performing team will be instrumental in embedding change, driving growth, and maintaining stability across the US team. You will have a rigorous commitment to excellence and a willingness to collaborate with journalists across brands and geographies, frequently liaising with teams in London, Brussels and Hong Kong.

Location – Washington, DC is preferable but will also consider strong applications from candidates in New York, Austin and elsewhere in the US.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with brand editors and specialist reporters to deliver a US content strategy designed to deliver maximum value to readers and attract new ones.
- Build, motivate, and lead a high-performing team able to deliver high-quality breaking news and agenda-setting reporting to deadline.
- Plan and manage the US editorial calendar to ensure subscribers receive the content they’ve paid for.
- Line manage deputy and/or specialist editors, and reporters in the US.
- Edit stories written by reporters, ensuring content is accurate and engaging prior to publication.
- Ensure email briefings are sent on schedule.
- Own the quality and volume of output across the US team, addressing any issues promptly.
- Source and produce exclusive content, leveraging your network of sources.
- Collaborate with managing editor, brand editors, and other departments to build the brand and ensure its long-term growth.
- Represent the brand externally, developing and maintaining successful client relationships.
- Chair and moderate brand events and webinars, both digitally and in-person.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Experience in a similar role or line managing a journalistic team.
- Experience in a newsroom or comparable, demonstrable experience of finding solutions to news reporting challenges
- Familiarity of Knowledge of antitrust and/or anti-corruption landscape and/or other regulatory areas is highly desirable.
- Experience of reporting on the federal court system and federal agencies is desirable.
- Strong nose for news, and proven ability to break news, build networks and report on a beat with authority
- Strong leadership skills.
- Organized and able to multi-task, able to work well in a multi-brand, multi-deadline environment.
- Deep understanding of B2B and the needs of a professional audience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of legal markets and legal frameworks in the US is highly desirable.
