About LYRIC

Since 1988, LYRIC (Lavender Youth Recreation & Information Center) has been a home base for LGBTQQ youth in San Francisco. Each year, we support over 2,000 young people through programs rooted in love, equity, and youth leadership.

Our mission? To build community and inspire social change through education, career support, wellness services, and leadership development. With a $4M budget and a small-but-mighty team of 20 staff, LYRIC is a place where young people lead, heal, and thrive—especially trans, nonbinary, BIPOC, disabled, and system-impacted youth.

What’s This Role All About?

We’re looking for a Housing Navigator to join our team and support LGBTQQ youth (ages 18–27) who are experiencing housing instability or homelessness in the Bay Area.

We are hiring a staff to coordinate our housing access programming at Purple House and lead our direct service work with the Coordinated Entry and Rapid Rehousing system in partnership with the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing (HSH).

What You’ll Do

🧭 Direct Support & Case Management

  • Provide individualized housing navigation services for LGBTQQ youth, including intake, assessments, and service planning.
  • Develop strength-based, social justice-centered support plans in collaboration with youth.
  • Offer culturally adaptive approaches to address the unique experiences of homelessness among LGBTQQ youth.
  • Ensure successful transitions to stable housing or appropriate community supports.

🏢 Program Implementation & Youth Development

  • Facilitate workshops, leadership programs, and team-based activities.
  • Create and deliver curriculum rooted in youth development and popular education frameworks.
  • Host group and individual sessions in both school-based and community settings.
  • Coordinate and staff community events.

🤝 Outreach & Partnerships

  • Conduct outreach in high-need communities, including street-based engagement.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local service providers, city agencies, and youth-serving organizations.
  • Support housing program visibility through tabling, flyering, and social media collaborations.

📋 Documentation & Collaboration

  • Accurately document services and interactions using multiple data systems.
  • Maintain up-to-date participant records and comply with confidentiality standards.
  • Collaborate with LYRIC staff and supervisor to ensure holistic care for youth.

🧩 Additional Duties

  • Attend all staff meetings, retreats, and trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Show up for youth and community with heart, accountability, and vision

This is a full-time, in-person role based at LYRIC’s Purple House in San Francisco. This is not a remote or work-from-home position. Occasional evenings and weekends are required.

Who You Are

  • A seasoned youth development professional with at least 2 years of program coordination experience.
  • Experienced with case management, group facilitation, and curriculum development.
  • Knowledgeable about youth homelessness, especially as it impacts LGBTQQ and BIPOC youth.
