About LYRIC
Founded in 1988, the Lavender Youth Recreation & Information Center (LYRIC) provides support and services to over 500 lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning (LGBTQQ) and allied youth per year. LYRIC’s mission is to build community and inspire positive social change through education enhancement, career training, health promotion, and leadership development with LGBTQQ youth, their families, and allies of all races, classes, genders, and abilities. The organization has a budget of over $5 million and a staff of over 30.

The Impact You Will Have


The Interim Director of Finance serves as a member of LYRIC's Leadership Team, leading the day to day finance operations of a budget of $5.6 million and supervising a team of five including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and grants administration. This position serves as Interim Director of Finance, ensuring LYRIC has the systems and procedures in place to support effective program implementation and conduct flawless audits.


What You’ll Do
● Contribute to LYRIC’s critical vision to encourage and embrace LGBTQQ youth to be who they want to be.
● Be a thought partner in supporting the leadership team at designing and implementing
sustainable systems and practices to elevate LYRIC’s work for the next five to ten years.
● Oversee all financial, project/program and grants accounting; ensure that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant and program budgets throughout the grant/fund period; collate financial reporting materials for government, corporate, and foundation grants.
● Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
● Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the Executive Director and Vice President of People and Programs; continuously collaborate to assess the financial efficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support program operations.
● Consistently analyze contracts financial data and present spenddown reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate spenddown goals weekly; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of LYRIC’s financial status.
● Support Executive Director and Consultant in coordinating all audit activity.

● Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.

● Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels
throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work

● Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to LYRIC’s mission; a proactive, hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the Executive Director, the responsibility for finance.
● Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll, and accounting for investments.
● A track record in grants management as it relates to compliance and reporting of
Government, corporate and foundation grants are essential.
● Keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which allows for strategic data
interpretation versus. simple reporting.
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board or other outside partners.
● Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels
including finance and non-finance managers.

$112,246.32 annual salary. LYRIC uses an equity-based model of compensation; we offer a fixed pay rate for staff according to position and tenure with an annual pay.

Salary : $800 - $112,246
