Responsibilities
- Design and deliver comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating instructional design and learning technology tools.
- Develop engaging instructional materials that incorporate creative writing, literacy education, and standardized testing preparation.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, providing constructive feedback to support improvement.
- Manage classroom behavior and implement effective classroom management techniques to create a conducive learning environment.
- Mentor and support students individually or in groups, including tutoring sessions for students needing additional assistance.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, school initiatives, and educational best practices such as AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, and linguistics principles.
- Incorporate research-based methods to enhance teaching effectiveness, including proofing, copy editing, and editing student work.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current with educational trends, including higher education teaching strategies and special education accommodations.
- Engage with parents and guardians regarding student progress and behavioral management strategies.
- Contribute to school administration tasks such as lesson planning documentation, academic advising, and library services coordination.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of English language arts including curriculum development, AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, proofreading, copy editing, and instructional design.

- Proven classroom management skills with experience working with diverse student populations.
