Duties
- Prepare and serve meals in accordance with dietary guidelines, ensuring all nutritional and dietary requirements are met for residents.
- Assist with food production, including cooking, baking, and plating meals while adhering to sanitation and safety standards.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, and dishwashers.
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas through proper sanitation, cleaning, and organization to ensure compliance with health regulations such as JCAHO standards.
- Support dietary department functions by bussing tables, stocking supplies, and assisting with meal delivery or serving residents.
- Follow safe manual handling practices during heavy lifting and food handling tasks to prevent injuries.
- Uphold workplace safety protocols by using personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to food safety regulations at all times.
Requirements
- Previous experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or the food industry is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, sanitation standards, and food safety practices such as proper handling and storage of food items.
- Ability to work efficiently within a team while managing time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong understanding of dietary requirements for geriatric patients or individuals with special nutritional needs.
- Basic math skills for accurate portioning and meal planning.
- Experience operating kitchen equipment safely and maintaining cleanliness standards.
- CPR certification and familiarity with workplace safety procedures are advantageous.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and stand for extended periods while maintaining focus on safety protocols.
