Summary

The Transition Program Specialist is a strategic support role focused on enhancing leadership capacity within transition classroom teams. This position provides coaching to team leaders and supervisors, strengthens district relationships, and promotes fidelity to the transition classroom model. The Program Specialist will work collaboratively with senior directors, supervisors, and expert level supports to ensure fidelity to the transition classroom model and promote best practices that enhance student outcomes and staff development.

In addition to the details and requirements for the employee listed below, Folium/Laurel Life expects the employee be committed to incorporating principles of trauma informed care in all areas of service delivery. Commitment to these principles in trauma treatment will be required through attendance in trainings and use of identified evidence-based practices. Trauma informed care includes cultural sensitivity and emphasizes a safe and respectful environment for all clients and staff.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing coaching and professional development to team leaders and supervisors to strengthen leadership skills and operational effectiveness.
  • Support classroom supervisors in implementing program goals, managing staff performance, and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Serve as a liaison between the transition program and district leadership to ensure alignment, collaboration, and effective communication.
  • Facilitate leadership training sessions and workshops.
  • Monitor and support fidelity to the transition classroom model, offering guidance and feedback to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Directors to identify leadership development needs and create strategic plans to address them.
  • Assist in onboarding new team leaders and supervisors, ensuring a smooth transition into their roles.
  • Collect and analyze data related to staff development and program implementation to inform continuous improvement.
  • Support identification of staffing needs, assist the organization's Directors in hiring new staff.
  • Support of supervisory duties in the event of a supervisor vacancy
  • Work as a positive team member supporting the team's mission and goals, consistently working in a trusting and cooperative manner with fellow team members and supporting the team's common operating approach.

  • Accepts professional responsibility and serves as a role model for positive, pro-social behavior; modeling respect, responsibility, integrity, empathy, impulse control, emotional self-awareness, and professional boundaries.
  • Candidate will have to successfully complete and maintain certification of ESPI training. ESPI techniques are only used in compliance with Folium policy and procedure and within guidelines established by third-party experts in the proper and legal use of ESPI.
  • Maintain an active valid driver's license issued by state in which they reside and must immediately notify their supervisor or Human Resources if their license is suspended or revoked for any reason.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by organizational leadership.

Skills

Maintains specific expertise in classroom management, Trauma Informed Care, and Brain Science Resiliency. Possess good interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to develop effective and meaningful relationships with staff. Must be able to identify underlying causes of problem situations, and recommend expert. Must be a team player.

Education/Requirements

Thorough knowledge of transition classroom essentials and leadership development skills as would be acquired through these requirements:

  • Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in transition classrooms, with a minimum of 3 in a supervisory role.
  • Proven capability to build collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders, including district administration and internal teams
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop staff in educational settings
  • Deep understanding of transition classroom model and best practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the capacity to navigate difficult customer relations and team issues

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work setting includes transition classrooms within several Pennsylvania Counties. Travel between these locations will be expected.
