The IT Support Specialist (contract) role is to ensure proper computer and information systems operation so that end users can accomplish business tasks. This includes actively resolving end-user help requests as well as assisting with the deployment of IT resources.
This role is a six-month contract position.
Responsibilities
User Support: Provide software and hardware support to system users. Answer questions about, and provide instruction on, the operation of computer applications and equipment. Provide support over the telephone, in-person, via email or using remote management tools:
- Record, track, and document the service desk request problem-solving process, including successful and unsuccessful decisions, and actions taken, through to final resolution
- Fulfill requests for user adds, moves, changes, and disabling access
- Install, configure, and manage desktop computers running Windows and Apple iOS operations systems and common office productivity applications
- Install, configure, manage, maintain, and troubleshoot printers
- Support common desktop software applications, browsers, and security software
- Develop and maintain documentation for common support tasks
- Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications
- Perform onsite and remote analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of all information problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including offsite repair for remote users as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma or beyond
- A , Network , Security , MCP, MCSA, or similar certification desired but not required
- 1 or more years of related experience supporting help desk operations and client systems or a demonstrated understanding of systems support
- Working knowledge of modern PC technology components and their relationships, including software, hardware, networking, applications, and peripherals
Technical Requirements
- Microsoft Windows Professional 10 & 11
- Microsoft Office applications and tools
- Experience with supporting hardware for desktops such as printers, multifunction devices, scanners and monitors
Work Conditions
- Occasional evening and weekend on call rotation
- Occasional evening and weekend work to accommodate business units’ needs
- Lifting and transporting moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals
